This past Sunday we celebrated our one-year anniversary and it is amazing to look back at all that God has done in just one year. It was great to have a celebratory meal after the morning services, sit down in fellowship with God’s people and reflect upon all the changes that have taken place since the birth of the church. As an exciting part of the day, we had folks volunteer to help serve God in the music and helps ministries. There is much need in these areas of the church, because our pastoral intern, Seth, and two of our daughters, Leah and Tabitha, are heading out to Bible college the second week of August. Please pray for God’s continued growth, provision and protection for these three as they seek to please God with their lives.
Mid-Week Service
We started our mid-week Bible study on Thursdays at 6:30pm on June 7th and our Pastoral intern has been doing a great job of teaching and preaching during these services. Since it is a pilot seasonal service for the summer months, we will have our last service on August 2nd. The main purpose of this service is to meet the needs of our congregation and visitors while allowing our intern to receive training in conducting a service in its entirety under the guidance of the senior pastor. We have had very few folks go beyond the Sunday Morning service to attend this mid-week time, but it has ministered to those of us who have been in attendance and has been a great time to go back to the Bible Basics. This Thursday, we will hold our first communion for the church and we are excited about this time to remember what Christ has done for us on the cross.
Soul-winning and Seasonal Visitors
The summer is flying by, but there is always time to go out and invite folks to church. We have been steadily focusing on the Watersmeet, MI area and have had many folks show interest from this and surrounding areas. I had the opportunity to invite a young man and his grandparents from the Lac Vieux Desert Reservation this past Saturday and I pray that they will soon be in attendance. We have had our “snow birds” and regular vacationers come through and it is always encouraging to see them excited over the improvements to the building and the services. Also, there is a newly saved man from Texas visiting his dad in the area and his zeal has been an encouragement to the church. Additionally, there is an elderly man who has acknowledged his need for Christ in his life, please pray with us that he will make the decision to get saved soon. We have been praying specifically for him for over a year now. Pray, also, that we will continue to reach souls for Christ and that God will strengthen those already saved.
Thank You
As always, my family and I would like to thank each of you for your prayers and support. This church-plant is doing remarkably well, financially, and we have prayerfully started taking partial support. It is our desire to evaluate how well the church will do over the next six months before making further decisions about the future. Please continue to pray about this baby church as we try to establish God’s work in the Northwoods and once again thank you for all that you do to further the Gospel. God is always good!
